Clinical Assistant Professor, Adult Clinic Coordinator, University of Puget Sound
Jennifer S. Pitonyak, PhD, OTR/L, SCFES, is faculty in the School of Occupational Therapy at University of Puget Sound. She uses the Life Course Health-Development (LCHD) framework to examine contextual factors that influence family occupation and health-development. Dr. Pitonyak’s clinical background in occupational therapy and PhD training in health policy shape her research, policy, and program development interests in understanding occupation as a determinant of health. She has authored several publications in which she applied LCHD to early family experiences and examined the opportunity for occupational therapy to collaborate on public health initiatives for outcomes of social inclusion and health equity. She is active in the LCRN early family experiences node and collaborated with the LCRN to organize the webinar series, Occupational Therapy and Maternal Child Health: An Emerging Partnership to Improve Early Family Experiences and Life Course Health-Development. She received the “Extra Extra Award” at the 2013 CityMatCH Urban MCH Leadership Conference for excellence in translating results to the audience from her study of life course factors associated with exclusive breastfeeding outcomes.« Back
